Cookie information

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored by a browser. Evolve uses them to remember a cookie choice and may use optional analytics to understand broad page performance.

2. Essential cookies

The cookieChoice item records accept or reject for this banner. It remains until you clear it or make a new choice.

3. Optional analytics

Optional measurement is only enabled where consent has been provided. We do not use cookies to infer medical conditions or build advertising profiles.

4. Managing choice

You can remove cookies through browser settings and revisit the site to make a new choice. Blocking essential storage may cause the banner to return.

5. Third parties

Where analytics suppliers are used, their processing is governed by contractual safeguards and their own published information.

6. Retention

Cookie choices are retained until removal. Technical records are generally retained for no longer than 90 days.

7. Legal basis

Essential storage is used for site operation; optional analytics relies on consent under applicable UK privacy rules.

8. International processing

Any international transfer is assessed and protected with appropriate UK safeguards.

9. Contact

Contact Evolve at 78 Regent Street, Manchester, Greater Manchester, M14 4GP or 0161 748 6329.

10. Changes

This page was reviewed on 5 October 2026 and will be dated when material changes are made.

Cookie names and lifespans

The essential cookieChoice item records whether the banner was accepted or rejected so that the same question is not shown on every page. It is a first-party preference and has a lifespan of up to 180 days, after which the choice may be requested again. A short-lived session identifier may be used by the hosting layer to maintain basic request continuity; it expires when the browsing session ends or within 24 hours.

Where consent is given, an analytics service may set a first-party or service-managed identifier such as evolve_analytics. Its purpose is to count broad page visits, referral categories and technical performance rather than to identify a person or infer health information. Analytics identifiers are configured for a maximum lifespan of 13 months and are subject to deletion or aggregation according to the supplier’s settings.

Choice, withdrawal and browser controls

Rejecting optional cookies does not prevent access to editorial pages. You can withdraw consent by clearing site data and revisiting the banner, or by changing cookie controls in your browser. Browser settings can block, delete or isolate cookies, although essential storage may then be recreated so the site can remember the technical choice needed for operation.

We do not use cookies to personalise health content, create sensitive profiles or follow reading behaviour across unrelated websites. Some embedded resources may have their own technical requests, and those providers publish separate information about their practices. We review such integrations before enabling them and avoid optional measurement until a valid choice has been recorded.

Review and contact

Cookie records may be checked alongside server logs when investigating a consent or security issue. Technical records are normally removed within 90 days, while a documented complaint may be kept for up to 24 months. Contact Evolve at 78 Regent Street, Manchester, Greater Manchester, M14 4GP, or on 0161 748 6329; we normally acknowledge questions within five working days.

This policy covers cookies and similar local storage created by Evolve or by a service that Evolve deliberately places on a page. It does not control cookies set by an external website after you follow a link away from Evolve. A browser may also retain cached files that are not cookies; clearing cookies alone may not remove those files, so browser help pages can explain the separate controls.

Essential storage is limited to functions such as remembering a consent choice, maintaining a secure session and supporting basic navigation. The cookieChoice preference may remain for up to 180 days, while a session identifier normally expires when the session ends or within 24 hours. These items are not used to infer a reader’s health circumstances or to create an advertising profile.

With consent, an analytics identifier such as evolve_analytics may record broad page interactions, approximate region, device category and performance events. It is configured for a maximum period of 13 months and reports are aggregated where possible. Analytics data may be retained by the processor for up to 26 months in a restricted reporting environment before deletion or aggregation, subject to the supplier’s documented settings.

You can refuse optional cookies through the banner and can later withdraw consent by clearing site data and revisiting the site. Blocking all cookies may affect the banner’s ability to remember your choice, but it should not prevent access to ordinary editorial pages. We do not use dark patterns, repeated prompts designed to pressure a choice, or optional tracking before consent where consent is required.

Third-party processing may involve the hosting provider, consent platform, security service and analytics provider. Their access is limited to the technical purpose for which they are engaged, and international processing is assessed using an adequacy decision or recognised UK transfer safeguard where needed. Questions about a cookie or consent record can be sent to 78 Regent Street, Manchester, Greater Manchester, M14 4GP, or 0161 748 6329; we normally acknowledge them within five working days.
